At the European Championships in Prachatice I raced for the national team in the Elite category for the first time. I came out of the swim with a serious deficit, but the bike really clicked for me that day and I pulled back a large part of it out on the course.
For the whole race I had no information about what position I was in. On the run I passed several more athletes, but I had no idea whether it would be enough for anything.
When they announced at the finish that I had come third in the U23 category, I didn't believe it at first and thought there was a mistake somewhere. It only sank in when the photographers started gathering around me.
Short track
The weekend also included the XTERRA World Cup Short Track: 25th in Elite on a technical, rocky course. A short, intense race against a top international field.
